Confessions of a fangirl~

Do I get points for the cool title? Haha!

I admit it - I've been a real Albert Wesker-fangirl since 06 or 07. Before that, it was mostly Claire, even if I wasn't as much of a fangirl then as I am now. I think I'll have to mention now that I'm a "voice-person" - that I for example mostly choose music after hearing the singer's voice. Like when I first heard The Poet And The Muse when I played Alan Wake the first time. I'd never heard any of their songs before, but I instantly felt that the singer's voice was special. So, I looked for information about the band, and I now have all of their cds, hehe. But back to the subject - voices are important to me, which is why I wasn't really happy when I found out that Richard Waugh wasn't going to voice Wesker in Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles. Waugh had voiced him in Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil Code: Veronica and Resident Evil 4, and I really loved his voice.

So when Umbrella Chronicles was released to the Wii in November 2007, I'd decided that no matter how much I wanted to play the game, I couldn't get used to a new voice for one of my favourite characters. I wasn't going to buy Umbrella Chronicles. That boycott actually lasted fairly long - I bought my Wii in June 2008 to be able to play Resident Evil 0 and REmake. Even though I now had the right console, I had no thought about buying the game. Until August the same year, that is. My first impression of DC Douglas, who was the new voice-actor, was that he sounded like he had a cold. It wasn't at all as good as Richard Waugh's version, the one I'd gotten so fond of. But I understood that this was Capcom's choice, and what could I ever do about that? Well, I could sign an online petition to get Waugh back, which I also did, even though it never really changed anything in the end. But I had at least done something.

Then, Resident Evil 5 was released, and even though I still didn't like Douglas's Wesker-voice, I couldn't deny it had improved. But still, he wasn't Richard Waugh. Mind you that I can be really stubborn at times, haha! I don't know how many times I've thought to myself that Douglas wasn't right for Wesker at all, that Waugh was the only one. A little fanservice of a shirtless Wesker sadly wasn't enough to change my mind. But just as I eventually learned to accept the Resident Evil-movies, after defending Afterlife when I'd read a review that - according to me - wasn't fair at all. I'd never thought I'd admit that yes, the movies are good, even though they obviously could've been better. It's the same with this - I'd never thought I'd change my mind about DC Douglas. But that was of course before I was linked to a site where you can get Albert Wesker as a voicemail for your phone. Before I found his website and learned more about him.

So here I am, the day after I got the link, and I'm following DC Douglas on facebook and twitter. I've also to 100% accepted him as Wesker, and I've already had time to fangirl him quite a lot. Sure, Richard Waugh will always be Albert Wesker's real voice for me, but hey - Douglas sure does an amazing job!

AI-Chris vs. Wooden Box

The title says it all, really XD I was playing Resident Evil 5, out on a treasure hunt (as usual. Need to upgrade my weapons on the PS3 too). I played as Sheva, and I had Chris set on "Attack". I had no idea that a simple wooden box would be that much of a challenge XD I managed to film his struggles, and the results can be seen on youtube. Just follow the link! ^^

Welcome home, number 25

I now have 25 Resident Evil games. I bought a PS3 a few days ago, and bought RE5 Gold Edition for it. I have to finish the game yet again to be able to play Mercenaries, Desperate Escape and Mercenaries Reunion, which means I have to spend quite some time with Sheva's AI (unless I play with friends, of course). But as soon as that's done, I'll be able to play Mercs, yay! 25 sure feels like a good number. Five more thn twenty, and also five away from thirty. Still need to get Wiimake and Zero Wiimake... Crazy fangirl, me? Noooo, what makes you think that? =D

Defending Afterlife (And the other REmovies)

Okay, so, I watched Resident Evil Afterlife in 3D, and I really liked that movie. For the last few years though, I've always figured that since the games are the games, and the movies are the way they are (lol) I can't like them both, and I of course chose the games.

Today, I went in a direction I didn't think I would - I bought the Limited Edition Trilogy-box of the first three REmovies. Why is that "weird"? Well, saying for so long that I nearly hated the movies, and already having a copy of them each are the main reasons for that. But it doesn't end there. I read a review about Afterlife that was in a Swedish magazine, where someone who knew NOTHING about the REgames wrote it, and really critisized the fourth movie, in ways I hadn't even expected of a non-REfan. I won't mention them here though, since I'm a bit lazy, hehe.

Instead of agreeing with the writer of the review, which I normally do when it's about the movies - I chose to defend it, since I figured that the critique wasn't fair at all. And this was basically 'cause the reviewer said that Alice was a heroine from both the games and the movies. That sure enough proves that this isn't a fan, nor someone who takes the time to do some fairly amount of research before writing a review like that. If you're gonna bash something, do it right. I did watch the three first movies only to be able to bash at the right things. Afterlife changed my view of them. So yes, for the first time in my life (kind of) I defended the REmovies. Even though I got to defend the games at the same time. I'm just that much of a Resi-addict X)

Afterlife (no spoilers, haven't even seen it yet XD lol)

So, it's time for "Resident Evil" Afterlife to hit the cinemas. And yes, putting the quotation marks around Resident Evil, and not the whole title explains very well how I feel about the movies. I really don't mind watching them - they're great movies, they really are - but they're just not Resident Evil.

Anyway, I'll be watching Afterlife next weekend, since it takes a while for the movies to get here X) But... it won't be a normal visit to the cinema. Why's that? Well, I'm not gonna tell =D
